David W. Carstens brings together a highly-skilled background in trademark and patent law to develop winning strategies for clients. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of intellectual property – including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Mr. Carstens represents clients in a wide variety of technical fields such as computer software, cosmetics, oil field equipment, medical devices and telecommunications. He has extensive experience in licensing and trademark disputes. The Texas Lawyer recently named Mr. Carstens to its “40 Under 40” list for attorneys under the age of forty who have achieved distinction in their field. He is a lecturer at Southern Methodist University School of Law. Mr. Carstens also holds an MBA.

Colin P. Cahoon’s legal expertise and his distinguished career in the armed forces enables him to provide clients with smart, technical legal counsel. As a partner in the firm, Mr. Cahoon concentrates his practice in patent law. Mr. Cahoon focuses his patent law practice in the telecommunications, manufacturing, food processing, and chemical technology industries. He counsels clients in licensing, technology-related transactional work, corporate mergers, and intellectual property evaluations and negotiations and has extensive experience in providing intellectual property legal support to in-house corporate counsel in a variety of manufacturing fields. Mr. Cahoon has been involved in hundreds of litigation cases, in many cases serving as lead counsel through jury verdict. Most notably, Mr. Cahoon has prosecuted patents through national and international filings for foreign and domestic clients.

Vincent J. Allen focuses his practice on producing positive results for clients. Mr. Allen’s industry expertise includes microwave computer systems, semiconductor devices, computer hardware and software, aviation, automotive systems and telecommunications. He has extensive litigation experience in both Texas State and Federal Courts.

James Gourley joined the firm in 2005. He is a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University Law School and is currently awaiting bar exam results. During law school, he clerked for 2 years at a firm focused primarily on franchise and intellectual property law. Before attending law school, Mr. Gourley graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering.
